New York City Mayor Eric Adams has proposed a new housing plan, aiming to build 100,000 new homes over the next 15 years. The plan includes a variety of reforms, such as ending the minimum parking requirements for residential development; making it easier to convert offices into apartments; allowing taller, denser apartment buildings near transit stops; and allowing property owners to build ADUs, even in single-family neighborhoods. Even if more work must be done to allay the city’s housing shortage, this plan is a step in the right direction. – Bloomberg Opinion
