The Housing Solutions Coalition today announced the addition of two nationally prominent co-chairs to lead its efforts in advancing effective solutions to alleviate the U.S. housing crisis: former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Marcia L. Fudge and former U.S. Representative Steve Stivers.

The Housing Solutions Coalition was formed in 2024 to combat harmful housing policies like rent control and advocate for solutions that increase housing production across the country.

Marcia L. Fudge brings decades of experience in housing policy and public service at every level to her role as co-chair. As President Biden’s HUD Secretary, she spearheaded initiatives to address housing affordability and homelessness nationwide. Prior to her cabinet position, Secretary Fudge served in the U.S. House of Representatives, advocating for community development and equitable housing policies. She currently serves as partner and chair of public policy for the Taft Law Firm.

“Among the issues facing our country today, none are more dire than the ongoing housing crisis,” said Secretary Fudge. “I am excited to work with legislators, industry partners, and stakeholders throughout the country to help build a more accessible and inclusive housing market for all Americans.”

Steve Stivers, former Ranking Member of the U.S. House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance, joins Secretary Fudge as co-chair. During his time in Congress, Representative Stivers championed job creation and economic development, with a focus on housing affordability. He currently serves as President and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

“The American dream is slipping away for too many families because of our nation’s shortage of affordable homes,” said Representative Stivers. “The Housing Solutions Coalition is committed to working across the aisle to advance common-sense solutions that put people first and get housing built.”
