Although the Washington state legislature declared 2023 “the year of housing,” some unfinished housing business remains and will carry over into 2024. Some of the proposals lawmakers may consider in a shorter legislative session next year include bills to expand rent stabilization, eliminate parking requirements for new construction, encourage more transit-oriented development, and allow single-room-occupancy apartments (SROs). – KUOW (Seattle NPR Affiliate)
