Housing affordability is a problem shared by nearly every state in America, and some governors are looking to address it with innovative policymaking. The National Governors Association recently hosted staff members from governors’ offices across the United States, giving them a chance to share their experiences and discuss strategies for lowering the cost of housing. The strategies discussed included streamlining permitting processes, allowing denser housing construction by right, expanding state tax credits for affordable housing and issuing bonds to fund affordable housing construction. – National Governors Association
