Last month, New York City launched a pilot program, under which the state’s affordable housing agency will loan as many as 15 single-family-home owners up to nearly $400,000 each to build rent-restricted ADUs on their properties. In just the first 12 days after the program was announced, more than 1,300 homeowners applied to participate in it, indicating that many New Yorkers are eager to build new housing, even in their own backyards. – New York Daily News
