A 2022 state law aiming to densify single-family neighborhoods was ruled unconstitutional by a California state court. The author of the legislation, State Senator Toni G. Atkins, said of the decision, “The goal of SB 9 has always been to increase equity and accessibility in our neighborhoods while growing our housing supply and production … I remain committed to addressing the housing shortage.” — Santa Monica Daily Press
