Earlier this year, the Montgomery County Council approved a rent control ordinance that is expected to dampen housing production in the county. Last week, however, members of the council put forward a genuinely pro-housing policy reform: a zoning code amendment that, if passed, would eliminate parking requirements for new housing located near transit. The amendment appears to have the support of all the council’s members and is scheduled for a public hearing in mid-January 2024. – The Washington Post
